Status Update

2 weeks into this thing, forever to go? We are happy and life is good so far. Baby is healthy and happy. When she is awake, she is totally awake if that makes sense. Same goes for when she is asleep. Her awake time is increasing while her feeding time is decreasing. She is more efficient at eating which I am grateful for, especially at 3am! She looks all around and really enjoys lights and finding her hands. We are just loving her up and feel really blessed to have such a healthy baby.

Jerry is well. He would argue this point, but I will say that he is doing fabulous in his program. This last semester he did really well in his classes and is also doing some great writing. He is working for a great group of people as well. This summer he is very busy with classes and work but its just what he needs to be doing right now and he is doing great work. I'm very proud of him.

I am adjusting to life at home. Its been an interesting transition. I admit to a small part of me missing work, but only a very small piece! Going from 50-60 hours a week outside of the home to 160 hours a week inside the home has its pros and cons, however, I would not change it for the world and I am loving taking care of the most precious things to me in the world, my family. I have found the joy that the leaders of my church talk about that comes from within the walls of my own home. I know that this is where I am supposed to be. When I get tired and feel like I just cant get up to feed her, or my back is aching from being busy all day, I know where to turn to for help. I know that the challenges will be changing continuously and I am so thankful to know that I have constant help that never fails.

Mia is one week old today. This is my favorite outfit. Her friend Valerie gave it to her when she was born.

My Mia

I can't really describe the emotions and feelings these last few days have brought into my life. But most of all, nothing but joy fills my heart with a new big place in it for Mia. She is so much fun! Jerry and I are just loving every minute of her and just love watching her change before our eyes. Here are the highlights from the past few days. Now that I am caught up with pics, I will post more often. Thank you all for your love and support. Jerry and I feel so blessed to be surrounded by loving people that support us and care about our little Mia.

Mia is fabulous! She is eating like a champ, which shouldnt be a surprise given the size at birth! She weighed 9lb 1oz, and is 21 inches long. She could be in the world record book for biggest cheeks at birth and the most blonde hair! She is very alert and always looking around at her new environment. She also sleeps great which is such a blessing!

I am recovering from the unexpected c-section. My Dr. and I decided it was safest to go in and get her because I developed a fever during labor and Mia wasnt descending at the rate we wanted her to. Even though surgery is no fun as I am now finding out, it was best for baby and Im so glad she is here safe.

Garden! We found these awesome flowers and herbs to plant. The basil and tomatoes I have growing are doing fabulous!

Hope Ball

Jerry and I attended the Hope Ball, a charity event for the Juevenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF). My friend/boss/pediatrician in one day has diabetes and is a big supporter. They have a charity ball and auction each year. This year it was at the Hilton and was sooo fancy! We had such a good time, even though I was 37 weeks pregnant! Doesn't Jerry look dashing in his bowtie? I love when he wears bowties
